What Does the PTSA Do?
Simply put, the PTSA at Fall City Elementary organizes parents to help make
our school a better place for our children to learn. Study after study has
shown that parent involvement is key to student success in education. The
PTSA is a great avenue for parents, working with the teachers and staff, to
impact the success of Fall City Elementary School.
- The PTSA raises and manages an annual budget of $100K.
It spends 93% of that budget on educational programs and services that
directly impact the children. (Operating costs represent the remaining
7%).
- Enhancing education is the top priority receiving 86% of
the spending. PTSA helps to fund four Sci-Art teachers that teach in the
classrooms and a multi-day, outdoor study trip for all 5th graders
(Seabeck).
- The PTSA provides each teacher and the principal with
generous mini-grants to benefit each classroom. Mini-Grants get PTSA funds
quickly into the hands of the experts that best know how to spend them.
- The PTSA builds community with social events for our
families — from ice cream socials to family science nights to book
fairs — everyone is invited!
- The PTSA is addressing the recent growth in enrollment
at our school. A third playground duty was made possible with help of PTSA
funds.
- The PTSA organized the school's first-ever auction and
raised $47K. These funds were used to completely upgrade the school's
computer lab. All new hardware and software were installed in January
2006.
