FCES After School Chess Club
The FCES Chess Club meets on Wednesday afternoons from 3:30–4:30 PM
in the school library. Students from kindergarten through fifth grade are
welcome. The Club offers students the chance to improve their chess playing
skills through instructions, puzzles, and friendly games. This year Mark Pfister will be our coach
and instructor.
- Permission slips (links below) must be signed and returned
before a student can participate.
- There is a one-time fee of $10 to join.
- Students should know how all the chess pieces move
before joining.
- Club size is not limited at this time,
however, if Coach Mark is challenged to provide a quality chess experience
for all involved he may break the club into two groups, meeting alternate
Wednesdays.
- Parents will need to provide transportation home after
chess club ends at 4:30 PM.
- Snacks are not provided, but students may eat a snack
outside the library before coming into the club.
- We need four Parent Helpers each week in order for the
Club to function effectively. You can sign up for 1 week or every week!
- The Club will continue running contingent upon parent
support from October 1, 2008 through June 10, 2009.
